Rise of Violent Crime in maryland
| The rising violent crime, especially the homicide rates, are extremely concerning for citizens and visitors to our state.
Baltimore City remains one of the most dangerous cities in the nation. Baltimore County’s homicide rates have almost doubled in the last few years and other counties are seeing increases too. We MUST work together to find immediate and long-term solutions to keep our communities safe. I join Governor Hogan in calling for enhanced penalties for repeat violent offenders as well as transparency in our court system. All too often, when violent criminals are arrested, they are found to have a long list of prior offenses. Some liberal and self-proclaimed progressive prosecutors are not effectively getting violent criminals off the streets and out of our neighborhoods and some judges are soft on crime. It’s time to turn this terrible trend around. |
